MCP tools

The tools an AI client finds at https://analyticstrend.com/mcp. Setting one up is in Connect an AI assistant.

Each tool answers with the same JSON the dashboard's report reads, as structured content and as text. An error answers with the dashboard's own message, such as "A project can have at most 10 funnels.". Every token lists every tool; the ones that change goals and funnels refuse a token that may only read. No tool deletes anything.

Common inputs

InputMeaning
projectIdA project of the token's account, from list_projects
range"7", "30", "90", "365" or "all" days; "30" when left out
from, toA range by its first and last days, YYYY-MM-DD, used instead of range
filtersA list of dimension:value, such as country:CA. Dimensions: country, region, browser, os, device, language, channel, source, campaign, entry, referrer

list_projects

Takes nothing. Returns your role in the token's account and its projects, each with id, name and kind (web or extension).

get_overview

Takes projectId, range or from and to, and filters. Returns the headline numbers: visitors or users, events, new visitors (installs, for an extension), uninstalls, visitors by day, the busiest events, countries and devices.

get_breakdown

Takes the common inputs, by and, optionally, goalId.

  • by: pages, entry_pages, channel, source, campaign, referrer, country, region, browser, os, device or language. region needs a country: filter. The first six are for websites only.
  • goalId: a goal from list_goals, adding each row's conversions and conversion rate.

Returns every row with its visitors and previous visitors, and the folded rest.

get_events

Takes the common inputs. Returns every event name received in the range, with its count, share and previous count.

get_goals

Takes the common inputs. Returns every goal with its conversions, completions, conversion rate and previous conversions. A goal still being counted from the last 90 days says so.

list_goals

Takes projectId. Returns every goal's id, name and rule: kind (event or page), eventName, propertyKey, propertyValue or path.

list_funnels

Takes projectId. Returns every funnel's id, name, goalIds in order, and window.

get_funnel

Takes the common inputs and funnelId. Returns each step's visitors: those who reached it after the step before, within the window of the first. A step reached by fewer than 5 visitors is withheld, with no count. Funnels cover the last 90 days at most, and the answer says from when.

get_journeys

Takes the common inputs, mode (entry, after or before, default entry), and for after and before a step (a page path or an event name) or a goalId. Optionally through, the steps chosen column by column to narrow the ones that follow (an empty string skips a column), and pagesOnly for a website. Returns five columns, each with its top six steps, Other and how many visits ended there, and the moves between columns. A visit ends after 30 minutes with nothing; anything reached by fewer than 5 visits is withheld. Journeys cover the last 90 days at most, and the answer says from when.

get_retention

Takes projectId and filters. Returns the weekly cohorts: of the visitors first seen in each week, how many came back in each week after.

create_goal

Needs a token that may change goals and funnels, and a Write or Admin member. Takes projectId, name, kind and the rule:

  • an event: eventName, and optionally propertyKey and propertyValue;
  • a page: path, such as /thank-you, or /recipes/* for every page under it.

Returns the new goal. It is counted from the last 90 days of events. See goals for examples.

update_goal

As create_goal, with the goal's goalId. A new rule restarts the goal's history from the last 90 days; a new name alone keeps it.

create_funnel

Needs a token that may change goals and funnels, and a Write or Admin member. Takes projectId, name, goalIds (2 to 5 different goals, in order) and window (1h, 1d or 7d). Returns the new funnel. A project has at most 10. See funnels.

update_funnel

As create_funnel, with the funnel's funnelId.
